Google Chrome Picture in Picture
The Google Chrome Picture in Picture allows the users to play the videos from local drives. All you need is to open the Finder on the Mac and open the local video in Chrome. It can be done by copying the complete path of the video.
Open the Finder or File Explorer and navigate to the local video you want to play. For macOS, use Finder to navigate to the file and hold the shift key and see the option to copy [File Name] as a path to copy the file’s complete path to clipboard. In Windows 10, hold down the shift key and right click on the video. From the context menu, choose Copy as path.
Now open the Chrome and in the new tab, place the path in the address bar. In Windows 10 you need to place the path only if the quotation marks appear (double quotes) you need to remove them before proceeding.
After you press enter, the video will start playing. At the bottom right corner of the video player, a more options button will be there. Click it and from the menu that appears, choose Picture in Picture.
When you tap Enter, the video will start playing automatically. At the bottom right of the video player, you will see a more options button. Click it and from the menu, select Picture-in-Picture. It will start showing PIP player with play/pause button. You can also drag and drop it to an edge of the screen and as soon as you close the PIP tab, the video will automatically move to the Google Chrome tab.
The only formats it supports are the MP4 and MPEG along with few other common video formats.
