HEIC is the default image format especially for Apple devices, the iOS devices save all the images to HEIC formats. You can also convert native image formats such as JPEG and PNG to HEIC in case you want to get the images on your latest iOS device.
Convert JPEG and PNG to HEIC
To convert images to HEIC, you need to follow a few simple steps. All you need to use the Preview app, the built-in export functionality allows the users to export images to JPEG, PNG, TIFF and HEIC image formats. All you need is to go to the File > Export.
A new menu will open, select HEIC from the list of formats. It compresses images and the images may lose the quality of the images. So you need to set the level to no loss in quality. Setting it to high does not have any benefit.
If you want to decrease the size of the image, you need to reduce the quality as much as light as you want to compress the image. Click on the save button and the image will be exported to the format in specific quality. It won’t affect the original image and you still have the original image to edit and convert in other formats.
