iOS devices use the ambient light sensor for auto brightness, through this sensor the iPhone’s screen goes dark or bright according to lighting condition i.e. dim in dark and bright in daylight. By default, iPhone has “Auto Brightness” turned on, but iPhone users like to have phone brightness according to their need. You can turn the auto brightness off and adjust it accordingly.
Sometimes iPhone users complain that their iPhone has very low brightness or the screen is too dark even the brightness of the phone is at its maximum. In this article, we will provide you the ways to fix this issue.
RESTART/RESET THE DEVICE
Sometimes light sensor stops working, you can try restarting your phone to fix it. If restarting your phone doesn’t help then you can reset the settings.
TURN OFF/ON AUTO-BRIGHTNESS
Turn the auto brightness off and lock your phone’s screen. Now place your phone in bright light and turn auto-brightness back on. To turn auto brightness off, follow the following steps.
Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Display accommodation > Turn off Auto brightness
REMOVE YOUR IPHONE CASE
Different iPhone’s have their light sensor placed in different places, try removing the case and turning the brightness off and on. This might help you with the phone’s brightness. Also, wipe the dust from above the screen that may be interrupting the light to reach the sensor properly.
TURN OFF REDUCE WHITE POINT
White Point is an iPhone feature for disabled people which reduces any harsh colors displayed on the screen. White point causes the screen to go a little dim than the normal screen. Check if the white point is enabled in your iPhone, turn it off. To turn the White Point off, follow the following steps;
Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > Reduce White Point
TURN OFF ZOOM IN
Make sure the Zoom in feature is not turned on as it also makes your iPhone’s screen look darker than the normal screen. To turn the Zoom off in iOS 12-12.2, follow the following steps;
Go to Setting > General > Accessibility > Turn off Zoom
DFU RESTORE
Device Firmware Update Restore is used to fix the issues with the iOS devices. It reloads the software and firmware in your device. If your phone’s brightness is still not fixed, you need to perform the DFU Restore on your iPhone. First backup all your data as you’ll lose all the data while performing the fix.
Different iPhone’s have different ways to perform DFU Restore, therefore you need to do it according to your iPhone.
