Double-clicking is the standard way to open an icon on Windows 10. Double-click prevents the file from accidentally opening. However, some users prefer single-click to open files. In this guide, we will show you how you can open a file with a single click in Windows 10.
Enabling Single-Click feature in Windows 10
Here’s how you can do it:
- Open File Explorer from the Start menu. Type “File Explorer” in search and open from results.
- From the “File Explorer” window click on “View” in the menu bar and click on “Options” and select “Change Folder and search options”.
- Folder options dialogue box will appear on the screen, select the radio button next to “Single-click to open an Item (Point to Select)”
- Now when you will hover the mouse pointer to a folder, the name of the file/folder will appear as a hyperlink underlined. In case you want the tiles of the icons to underline all the time, select the “Underline Icon Titles Consistent with My Browser” radio button.
Once you have enabled this feature, you can even open a file without clicking it. Just hover the mouse pointer to the file icon for a moment and the file will open. You may also like to check out How to Shut down Windows 10 PC using Command Prompt
