You often need to play YouTube videos in the background but the YouTube app does not allow this. So there is a solution to it. You need to play the videos in the background using the Google Chrome web browser on your Android device. It is a very simple task and there are no complex settings you need to play with.

Google Chrome is a very powerful web browser and allows you to play any kind of video with its built-in flash player. All you need is to open the Google Chrome or any other Web Browser and open YouTube from the Address Bar. After the web page is completely loaded, choose Request Desktop Site options from the options menu.

Now play the video and open any other app, the video may pause but you will be able to play it again from the swipe down notifications menu and the video will keep on playing in the background.
