If you often see Skype running in the background without opting out, this is because the Skype is in the startup applications. This results in showing you online always whenever you are connected to the internet. In case you want to stop running skype at the startup, then you need to follow a few simple steps.
Stopping Skype to Run in the Background
Windows 10 provides Skype Preview as a default application in the Anniversary update. All you need is to open the Skype Preview from the Start Menu. Click on the Profile Picture and sign out from the bottom of the screen. It won’t sign in again unless you put the login credentials.
Windows 10 automatically starts Skype as soon as you log in to the Windows. This results in Skype always online. To figure it out, open the Skype application from the Start menu. Click on the Tools > Options from the Skype Window.
Uncheck the “Start Skype when I start Windows” option and click on the “Save” button.
Prevent the Skype Desktop App
The Skype Desktop still continue to run in the background. So you need to sign it out from the tray icon. To close the Skype desktop application, locate the Skype icon from the notification area and right click on the Skype icon in the notification area and click on the Quit option.
