Apple devices automatically detect when two people are using Apple devices and thus make iMessage the carrier of messaging instead of SMS or MMS. However, some users may not want to send messages through iMessage as the user on the other end might not receive it due to the lack of internet availability. You will only get the iMessage if your device is connected to the Internet which is not an ideal case during urgency.

Follow the step mentioned below to achieve the specified goal:

  1. Go to “Settings” in your Apple device manually or by using the Spotlight Search feature.

  3. Now toggle off “iMessage” slider to disable it.

iMessage will be de-activated for your Apple device. Go to the Message app and type a message to any other Apple device used to make sure they receive an SMS instead of iMessage. The message bubble should be of green color which shows it’s an SMS if the bubble is of blue color it means iMessage is not disabled. If your device is still sending iMessage, restart your device and try sending a message again.
